Effects of Climate Change on Lake Winnebago
Communities that are near bodies of water will soon be faced with important decisions that need to be made regarding the changing climate. Due to climate change the frequency and intensity of rainfall and runoff events will increase. The combination of rising water levels and warmer winters would increase coastal erosion and storm surges. This would then severely harm recreational activities that take place in the coastal regions. Recreational activities are a large part of the coastal environment near Lake Winnebago. Warmer weather would also cause a large increase in blue/green algal blooms which would be detremental to the communities near Lake Winnebago that draw their water supply from the lake. At this point there is no way to "cure" the climate change that is occurring, the only thing that can be done is to adapt to it.
